Pico de Orizaba Summit

We will leave Mexico City for Tlachichuca, Puebla, where we will take 4X4 to reach the mountain hut in Piedra Grande. There, we will get ready for an acclimatisation walk during which we will practice using crampons and ice axe. After, we will return to the hut to enjoy lunch, prepare ourselves for the ascent the following day and then sleep.

We will leave very early, starting our ascent of the mountain. At sunrise we should have incredible views of the valleys which surround this imposing mountain. A beautiful glacier leads to the magnificent crater of this challenging mountain which will follow around to reach the summit at 5700m, the highest point in Mexico. After enjoy the views, we will descend to the hut where our transport back to Tlachichuca will be waiting for us. Once there, we will eat and then return to Mexico City.
